Internal Reflector "Internal Reflector" is an interactive installation that shows visitor's conditions of mind. Visitor puts on an EEG headband to send brain wave data to pc and "Internal Reflector" generates sounds, visuals and movements of kinetic balls by analyzing visitor's alpha, beta, theta, delta and gamma waves in real time. Brain waves are research topics that many people are interested in. Human brain normally produces five different types of brain waves at different times. They can and do change, based on what you’re doing and how you’re feeling. People want to know their real situations or internal conditions. It is said that if alpha waves are higher than other brain waves, which means you are relaxed. If beta waves are the highest, you are active and busy. Theta waves mean you are sleepy and delta waves mean you are in deep sleep. Gamma waves means you are intensely focused. "Internal Reflector" is an interactive installation that shows visitor's conditions of mind with an EEG headband. There are some EEG-controlled installations but most of them are controlling only visuals and sounds on the screen. "Internal Reflector" enables visitor's brain waves to come out from the screen and move into the actual world. This is a new experience for visitors that they see their brain waves represented on external objects and creating their own art work. Even people with disabilities or ALS patients enjoyed experiencing this art installation and they were able to move disco balls with their brain waves. This is a special point of this art installation and anyone can be a creator of an interactive art experience. √k contemporary, TOKYO / JAPAN ,2023 video |
